How I handled a difficult situation
by: danielle
The day after Christmas, December 26, 2015 around 3 to 5 am, there was an intruder who got our business profit, parents' money, cell phones, watch and tablet. My mom found out of what just happened when she woke up in the morning and she was looking for her phone and found her bag in their washroom. She checked her envelope immediately and saw nothing but papers. My mom called my dad and he also checked his wallet and apparently, all his money was robbed.
I was emotionally distressed when I woke up to a very bad news knowing that what the robber got was our business profit. I don't know what to feel because we really worked hard for us to earn that and it was gone.
So how did we handle that situation and got over it for just a day?
First of all, Thank God.
When something happens to you, either good or bad, the first thing you should do is to pray. Whatever the situation is you should always be thankful. We were still thankful in spite of what happened because God has protected us just like what He did to Daniel in the lion's den. Yes, the intruder was able to get in and get what he wants, but he didn't hurt us. God did not let my parents wake up while the intruder was there because there'd be a possibility that when any of my parents caught him, he might hurt them. Safety is better than money.
Secondly, Ask God to guard your heart.
If a person doesn't have God in his/her life the common reaction would be cursing that person who offended them. Everything happens for a reason, and most probably the reason why God let this happen to us is because He wanted us to learn how to forgive. If someone offended you, pray before you react. Do not let your emotions control you because you might say or do hurtful things that you'd regret at the end. God will surely help you to control your emotions. He can turn your anger to forgiveness.
Third, Ask wisdom.
Wisdom will help you understand whatever your situation is. In our case, wisdom helped us to understand the intruder. That maybe he needed the money more than we do. He might get it in a very wrong way, but at least our money helped him. God's wisdom will also help you to have a peace of mind.
Fourth, Forgive.
When you forgive someone, you're not doing them a favor, it is for yourself. Let them realize what they did, don't hold grudges in your heart. Plus, when you forgive just think that it honors God and that is what matters most. Take time to reflect on this, we actually don't have the right not to forgive even the worst person in this world. Why? Because we, ourselves, are sinners too! There are a lot of things we do that is offending and against God, yet He chose to forgive us and continually giving us chances to learn from our mistakes.
Lastly, Move on & Let God.
Always remember, GOD IS IN CONTROL. Nothing happens accidentally, it is all planned. God knows what He is doing so don't let your hearts be troubled. Always keep this in mind, God has promised that He will never leave you nor forsake you and that no human can ever hurt you when you have faith in Him. Just believe in Him. Always pray and everything will be fine.
So don't you worry about what is happening in your life right now, you just have to trust God's plan. Just chill and make sure that everything you are doing honors Him, no matter what :)
