2015 Christmas gift
by: danielle
I’ve always wanted to have my own restaurant or café & that is one of the reasons why I am eager to graduate, work and study again then earn money. I was so happy when my mom had an idea to start up a business last October (2015) named Sugar Madness- home baked goodies. I agreed with her idea because, of course, it is another source of income. So yeah, she tried to bake some brownies and it was really good so we tried to sell the first 3 microwavable sets of brownies to my dear friends- Chelsea, Micheline & Carlo. Then we got positive feedbacks so we did it again, and had our own Facebook page so we can post there our upcoming products. We have a couple of products available such as Brownies, Chocolate & Red velvet crinkles, Banana loaf, Leche photo, Oatmeal cookies, Leche flan and Cupcakes. Soon, we’ll be selling cakes too!
I am indeed blessed to have my own business at such a young age. As December approaches, there comes orders for Christmas giveaways and gifts. Almost a week of being so productive just to meet up the deadlines. Me and my mom had to work the whole day, from morning to midnight. But thankfully, I have my siblings doing the boxes & stickers. There was a day we haven't thought of taking a bath or having a meal because it will consume time and we should rush things because we have a hundred plus orders and there are only 2 of us doing it. We actually have a customer from Hawaii! She was my mom's schoolmate before & saw our page, then messaged us if she can order for her parents here in the Philippines. There was also a company who ordered brownies for their giveaways, a school group ordered cupcakes to be given in the Christmas event for less fortunate kids and my grandmother who ordered a lot to be given to her friends & her amigas ordered as well...
But seeing our finished products helps us forget that we are exhausted, everything is all worth it!
As I think of this big blessing, I thanked God because He gave me a challenging experience and instead of going out and exasperate my parents, at least I'm being productive & I am already helping to earn extra income plus it is also a training ground for me. At least when I go to West Virginia for my practicum, there's nothing new about working for 10 hours right?
Today, my aunt asked us if we can cater the company she is working in for their Christmas party and of course, we accepted it! It is a blessing! Well, there's only a few of them so me and my mom can handle it because we can do all things through Christ who is the source of our strength. This is the best Christmas gift I've ever had so far! I never forget to thank God from the moment I open my eyes when I wake up to the time I'll close my eyes before I sleep. I'm confident to say that this business will go far, this is just the start. Sooner, it won't only be me & mama who'd be doing all these things, but we'd be the bosses (Taraaaay! hahaha)
